Park Matilo Company Information

Tussen de wijken Roomburg en Meerburg in Leiden ligt Archeologisch Park Matilo. In het begin van onze jaartelling hebben de Romeinen hier een fort gebouwd: castellum Matilo. Dat ligt nu onder het park verborgen. Deze archeologische schatkamer is al in 1976 tot rijksmonument verklaard. In afwachting van betere archeologische technieken blijft alles voorlopig onder de grond. Om toch iets van het Romeinse verleden zichtbaar te maken is een park aangelegd.
