HE WHO PLANTS A TREE, PLANTS A HOPE!

LAP Landscape & Urban Design is a successful Dutch design studio that was founded in Rotterdam in 2009 after winning the biannual Archiprix International for best worldwide graduation project and Europan Nijmegen by Sander Lap. The studio specialises in interdisciplinary designs between landscape and urban design with a strong ecological and robust identity.

Projects that grow old beautifully and get more lush with the day!

Currently the studio is working on a manifold of landscape and urban design projects of which Liberty Global Headquarter garden, high-end luxury private gardens, Utrecht Antoniuskwartier, the RotterdamRent! street markings and the YunCheng senior community masterplan in China. These projects are, or are very soon to be, under construction and we are looking forward to experience them off paper.

The studio recently won in consortium the international design competition Serp I Molot (Hammer & Sickle). This legendary factory site of 58ha in the city center of Moscow will be transformed in the coming years into a buzzing urban district. The territory will hold up to 1.8million m2 mix use development and envisions completion in 2021.

Last year the studio settled itself into the Russian design scene by winning the international design competition for Nikola Lenivets. The project Constellation offered a strategic organisation for the new territories around the art village of Nikolay Pollisky. Later that year the studio won third prize in the international ZIM-konkurs in Samara with Volga River waterfront masterplan.

For the International Architectural Biennale Rotterdam LAP completed a research project for the greenification of the Rotterdam city center for a more sustainable city center. Proving that densification should always be equalled with high quality functional green, referred as Glamorous Green, to generate comfortable sustainable cities. The research resulted in several smaller greenifaction projects to replace unused paving into successful low budget urban gardens making the city greener.
