Alexander van de Ven Specialist Chinese Antiques Company Information
Algemene informatie
Alexander travels to China a few times a year to look for original 17th until late 19th century Ming-style cabinets. After carefully making his choice, he takes the most attractive objects to his gallery in the Netherlands. The gallery of Alexander van de Ven is located in The Hague, in the impressive surroundings of the Noordeinde Palace. The gallery’s characteristics are well captured by the early Chinese pottery such as the terracotta horses from the Han dynasty and the Court Ladies from the Tang-dynasty.
In addition, Alexander van den Ven also has the Coleta Collection: these are unique necklaces, made from glass trade bead from the 18th and 19th century and from hand-made silver or gold-coated silver beads.
The appeal of the gallery is further enhanced by the extensive collection of modern household porcelain from the Japanese village of Arita on the island of Kyushu and a wide range of Iwachu tea pots from Japan: Alexander van de Ven’s collection currently boasts 200 examples.
The gallery also presents the unique Raku of Liesbeth de Jonge. These ceramics are produced by implementing Japanese techniques and characteristic Japanese shapes.
