Stichting Dordrecht-Bamenda

Sinds 1993 bestaat er tussen de gemeenten Dordrecht en Bamenda een officiële stedenband. Een stedenband is een formele vriendschapsband of partnerschap tussen een Nederlandse stad en een stad in een ander land. Doel van zo’n band is om kennis te delen, van elkaars cultuur te leren en/of om elkaar op een bestuurlijk niveau te ondersteunen.
In 1996 is de Stichting Dordrecht-Bamenda opgericht om de stedenband niet alleen technisch maar ook inhoudelijk meer vorm te geven. De gemeente Dordrecht ondersteunt Bamenda op bestuurlijk niveau. De stichting coördineert contacten tussen organisaties en personen op alle andere niveaus.

Since 1993 there is an official 'twinning' between the municipalities of Dordrecht and Bamenda. Twinning is a formal friendship or partnership between a Dutch town and a city in another country. The aim of such a band is to share knowledge, learn from each other's culture and / or to support eachother at an administrative level.
In 1996 the Foundation Dordrecht-Bamenda was established to give more content to this twinning. The municipality of Dordrecht supports Bamenda at the administrative level. The Foundation coordinates contacts between organizations and individuals at all other levels.
