Mills Advertising is an international advertising agency. The European flags have been flying on the letterhead since the agency started in 1976. The agency's charter was to focus on the advertising and marketing requirements of companies requiring consistent and co-ordinated advertising programmes for the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Benelux and Scandinavia.

The agency was initially known as Mills Stadden Hughes and was formed by Mike Mills together with a small successful London based agency, Stadden Hughes. Prior to the start of the agency, Mike Mills had spent 5 years creating and developing another international agency in Eindhoven which was known as the Howard Group.

Howard Advertising handled the international adverti sing requirements of Philips Test & Measurement, Philips Light Division, Philips Electronics, Philips Medical Systems, Philips Data Systems and Philips Bank Terminal Systems.At that time, Philips had a large 'corporate' advertising department which was responsible for all international advertising campaigns. When Philips joined with Siemens and CII to form UNIDATA, Mike Mills and Stadden Hughes (under the banner of Howard Advertising) were chosen to pitch against the Siemens and CII advertising agencies for the world-wide advertising programme and the development of a complete corporate identity.

They won the account. It also involved film & video production and the design & building of exhibition stands throughout Europe. On leaving Howard Advertising, Mike Mills concentrated on IT advertising and marketing.

The detailed experience gained during the period with Howard Advertising involved extensive travel and communication with Philips local organisations presenting international creatives and co-ordinating local adaptations. Since its inception, Mills Hughes & Partners has created, planned and negotiated Pan-European media advertising campaigns for:

Tektronix, Oracle, Corel, Miro, Syquest, Philips New Media, Calcomp, Logitech, Nec, Pinnacle, Xircom, Xylan, AOpen, Atos Origin, Sony, Sonic Foundry and numerous other brands.
