The Alexandertechnique covers all aspects of life. It starts with one lesson. It starts with sitting and standing and then lying down on a table. Slowly it is growing. The flower is growing. The unity of the body and mind is expanding. We learn about the force of habit and the possibility of saying “no” to our habitual response to the stimuli of life. There is the small gap between the receiving of a stimulus and our response to it. This small gap, we call inhibition is expanding as well. Slowly there is a freedom growing, a freedom to choose, a freedom in thought an action. How wonderful can that be?
Not to be bound to our beloved habits of life, not to be the slave of our past. That freedom and growth covers all aspects of life. What has been chaotic and separate becomes one unified whole. The complexity of life becomes integrated in the awareness of where you are at this moment. Our own inner quiet is the wholeness of the universe.
