De Blauwe Hollander

De Blauwe Hollander heeft op 1 april 1979 zijn de deuren geopend, de naam “Blauwe” is een verwijzing naar de blauwe uniformen van de marinemensen die vroeger naar Indonesië en Suriname werden gestuurd om daar te blijven als permanente vertegenwoordigers van Holland.

De “Hollandse Pot” werd in de voormalige koloniën meer gewaardeerd omdat het in de tropen geen alledaagse kost was en omdat het, het verlangen naar Holland enigszins temperde.

De tijden waarin stamppot, snert en sukadelapjes hoogtij vieren zijn nog niet vervlogen, bij ons het hele jaar en de gehele dag verkrijgbaar. Daarnaast ook overheerlijk mosselen (seizoen), gebakken zeebaars of scholfilet met pastinaakstamppot en een saus van Amsterdamse uien. Laat u vooraf verrassen met huisgemaakt kaaskroketjes of knolselderijsoep met gerookte makreel. En als dessert een simpele vlaflip, poffertjes of onze trots Oma van der Vliet huisgemaakte appeltaart.

De Blauwe Hollander (The Blue Dutchman) opened her doors at the first of April 1979, the name “Blauwe” (Blue) is a reference
to the blue uniforms of the marines who used to be sent to Indonesia and Suriname to stay as a permanent representative of Holland.

The Dutch Cuisine was more appreciated for the man over sea’s because in the tropical atmosphere it wasn’t the usual meal the got and it tempered their longing back to Holland.

The times where hotchpotch, pea soup and stew were the things to eat have never passed, with us the whole season and every day its still available. Next to that we serve sea mussels, baked sea bass or plaice filet with mash of parsnip and a lovely Amsterdam onion sauce. Let us surprise you with our home made cheese croquettes or celery turnip soup with smoked mackerel as a starter. And for a typical Dutch dessert we have the yogurt with vanilla custard, poffertjes, or Grandmothers home made apple pie.
